The University of Alberta Innovation Fund is an early-stage venture fund launched in 2023, a wholly owned subsidiary of the University of Alberta managed since October 2026 by Graphite Ventures, and funded by donor contributions toward a $50M target. It invests in research-driven startups connected to the university, across artificial intelligence, health, energy and agriculture. In its first year it backed 5 companies, including RL Core Technologies, Nanostics Precision Health, PulseMedica and Areto Labs. It joined the round of Wyvern, the satellite imaging spinoff founded by U of A graduates, in 2024, and has backed 13 companies to date.
