Their thesis, in full
Framework Venture Partners is a Toronto-based fund founded in 2018 by former BDC partners Peter Misek and Andrew Lugsdin. The thesis rests on "active capital": cheques of $4M to $14M CAD at Series A and B, with a lead posture and intensive operational accompaniment (GTM, finance, governance) for Canadian founders in vertical SaaS, applied AI, fintech, cybersecurity and B2B marketplaces. Fund I at $105M CAD, Fund II with a first close of US$100M toward a US$250M target. Not to be confused with Framework Ventures (San Francisco, crypto). Framework distinguishes itself through metric and business-model rigor.
What they bring past the cheque
- Active capital playbook
- Vertical SaaS expertise
- Finance & metrics rigor
- GTM scaling
- Cross-border syndication
Questions they usually ask
Have an answer ready for each one before the first call.
- Are you at $2-10M ARR in vertical SaaS, AI or fintech with proven retention and efficiency metrics?
- Are you ready for a hands-on lead investor who will work weekly on GTM and finance?
- Do you have a Series B path that includes US institutional capital?
Follow-on
Framework reserves substantial follow-on capital for Series B and selectively co-leads up rounds with US firms. Strong preference for founders who run a tight metrics-driven board.
